Who is Lig in Duisernis?

A leading Christian publishing house with a Reformed foundation.

Lig in Duisternis focuses on producing Afrikaans literature that is true to the Bible for Christians in South Africa and across the world.

We have a vision for a commonwealth of believers who collectively acknowledge the rule of Jesus Christ, who work together to carry out his plan, taking hands with fellow believers to fulfil our calling to one another. In this way we want to call on all peoples to clap their hands and rejoice in the glory of God and to glorify his Name in every city on earth (cf. Ps. 47).

After all, he is forever King in heaven and on earth!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Lig in Duisternis Publishers’ origins lie within the Afrikaans Protestant Church and therefore shares the Reformed foundation of these churches of Christ. This involves:
  • The desire to truly know and serve the triune God;
  • the confession that Jesus Christ is Lord. Only in Him, as the only Mediator, is salvation to be found;
  • the confession of the supremacy of God and the recognition that it must be preached fearlessly from his Word in a world that increasingly considers man to be the norm for its decisions;
  • being a church built on the Bible as the Word of God;
  • the calling to proclaim God’s Word faithfully. Central to this are the tenets of the Reformation, namely: The Word alone (Sola Scriptura), Christ alone (Solus Christus), grace alone (Sola Gratia), faith alone (Sola Fide) and to God alone be the glory (Soli Deo Gloria);
  • the endorsement of the following confessions because they are in accordance to God’s Word:
    • Ecumenical creeds:
      • the Apostles’ Creed;
      • the Nicene Creed and;
      • the Creed of Athanasius.
    • Reformed articles of faith:
      • The Belgic Confession of Faith;
      • the Heidelberg Catechism and;
      • the Canons of Dordt.
  • to stand firmly in the Reformed tradition;
  • to be a pillar and foundation of truth and turn people into disciples of the triune God who keep all that the Lord has commanded his church to do.
